For anyone not so active on Facebook, I've included the latest three excerpts of Rise Of The Wolf below. I'm at the 54% mark, and there are about twenty scenes left to go at approx. 2000 words a scene. I reckon that's about six weeks of writing, but we are now entering the school holidays. This is the time of year when the author in me battles with the mother in me, and has a mini panic attack that writing will suffer.
My reason often interjects with 'don't worry, you've got this'. Because I only ever set myself a target of 1000 words per day to write (plus editing, pus marketing, plus website maintenance, backlist maintenance, design work and book keeping - yes, the household chores suffer, and I work full-time hours as an author and publisher). 1000 words is sometimes 500 words, and sometimes 2500 words, so it averages out at 1K. One thousand is approx. one hour's worth of writing if the flow of ideas is good. If it's not, it can take the bulk of the morning / evening. Also, 1000 words a day is not 365,000 words a year - I've got to put aside about 6 weeks (a loss of 42,000 words) after finishing a book to get it properly edited and formatted for publication - I rarely write during this time, although I try.
But all in all, Rise Of The Wolf is coming on splendidly, although the test will be when I finally read through the completed manuscript from beginning to end, to see what the hell it is I've actually written! We are definitely on course for a 5th November release, and there is currently a 70% chance the book will be released earlier than that - good news all round :)
I've struggled in the past with the notion that I don't write enough, or fast enough. There's this thought among some (mostly within the indie community) that eBooks need to be churned out every three months in order to beat the 'lull' that takes place around that time after release. It's understandable - as an indie, your focus is on making an income for yourself and not just on your writing, and you're the only one responsible for that. You have to put your marketing hat on and think about the best way to do that, but it's even more important to balance that out with good quality fiction that hasn't been belted out for the sake of it and motivated by any amount of 'fear' that you might lose your income and readers if you don't deliver right now. Your true fans will want the quality that brought them to your books in the first place, not a quick fix (although it's beyond wonderful that they're invested enough in your story to want the next one so fast! All authors appreciate that kind of fervour.).
The three-month lull might very well be a real thing (certainly if you don't have a strong backlist), but I don't subscribe to churning out books at the rate of knots, even if I need to pay my bills (which, obviously, I do), and after three years of feeling the pressure to do so, I can say, at last, that I'm at peace with my 1000 words rule. One thousand words is part of my natural flow - it's how I write best, and if one day, I want to write a 300K word book (this might very well happen), I'll happily take a whole year to do it.

Sadly, the April 16th, 2016 BookMad Bournemouth (UK) Signing Event has been cancelled, with a view to holding it in 2017 or 2018 instead.
I am still attending the Book Lover Book Bonanza Signing in Southampton on 11th March, 2017, and I hope to see as many of you there as possible!
Instagram is the page to which I'll be adding photographs I take every now and then (as well as, obviously, linking to my Instagram). Photography is a hobby of mine I don't get enough time to do, but I use some of the photos in my own covers. The Witching Pen series has Canary Wharf as a background on the covers - I took that photo - and the 'moon' you see in both of the new Eye Of The Storm covers below are also mine.
This News page you're reading right now - also the home page - is not a blog (I was never any good at keeping a blog, so I don't do it anymore), but more of a bulletins / notice board where I'll be posting updates and the latest, as and when. Which leads me to.... my cover reveals!
I've got two to show you for Eye Of The Storm, with titles and dates of when these books are expected to be published, taking me into the end of 2016. There is no blurb for book six yet.
Book Six: Reign Of The Wolf
I do have an idea for a new series after Eye Of The Storm and it promises to be just as fast-paced, twisted and hot! But I won't be announcing that until late 2016. I also have ideas for TWO other standalone books I want to write - one (an erotic thriller / horror) will take about six months to write, and the other (literary fiction / surrealism) will take a about a year (the story's really intricate - I need that time to get it just right). No idea about announcements - I would just say 'stay tuned' for them over the next two years.
A couple of months after Reign Of The Wolf comes out, I will be bringing out an Omnibus Edition of the series in both eBook and paperback. As the eBook will be quite pricey (probably at least $9.99), the individual volumes will still remain on sale, just as with the Witching Pen series, so you can always have choice over how you purchase the series. I know one reader who bought one book of the Witching Pen series per month because she couldn't afford to buy it in bulk, and I never want to take that flexibility away.
Eye Of The Storm: Omnibus Edition
And, as they say, that's all, folks! I hope you're as excited about all of this as I am. If you look to the right of this page in the margin of this 'blog', you'll see my publication schedule, taking me right up until the end of 2016. If there's any chance at all I can fit another publication in there, it'll be on a whim and you'll know about it when it happens, but in the meantime, don't expect things to mediate too much from what you see for this year and next. All other info you need to know you should be able to find on my website, or feel free to get hold of me on Facebook or Twitter.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
