I am a third of the way through Summer's End. That sounds like it's taken forever to get there, and it has, but a hell of a lot has been happening within home life that has made going faster difficult this time around. The 'burnout' I talked about in my previous post is better. When I write now, I'm writing up to 2000 words a day (when home life allows that gap in the day) without feeling too tired, so my energy is back up, and maybe the whole lesson is patience with this one. Things are changing, but super-slowly, and I have to wait for everything to slot into place before anything can take off. I don't want to give up on this book, because when the words flow, they flow beautifully, and, ultimately, I want to tell the story, so I'm going to finish it. I suspect I will have to delay the release date by yet one more month, but at least it's getting written. This time last month, I wasn't sure the book would get written at all as I was exhausted after every scene I wrote. At least that's passed, and I hope it stays passed!
As before, any delay with this book does not affect Reign Of The Wolf. I'm not in the right place to start Reign Of The Wolf now, anyway - I'm too scared it'll be as Summer's End has been, and the wolf series is not one I can write feeling tired. It requires a hell of a lot of energy to do those wolves justice, so I would be terrified of starting it now.
So, the current plan is keep writing Summer's End, and see it through to completion. To those of you that enjoyed The Spell of Summer, I really, really hope you adore Summer's End, because it's of the same vein, and there's a beautiful romance in there (the Once Time Thrice series is the most 'romance' of all the books I've written). But it's also about family, and life, and death, and fate, and trust. I hope I can throw a little plot twist in there for you, too. Once Times Thrice is not a 'plot heavy' series like my others, but I'd like to get some surprises in there if I can.
For anyone who doesn't know, there is a giveaway on my Facebook page that ends tonight.
And if you've missed excerpts of Summer's End, you can view the first one here, and the second one here.
Patience ... patience... Thank you for your patience. I am getting there :)
