Reign Of The Wolf is looking to be about 110,000 words long altogether. I'm about four/five scenes from the end. The book's taken longer to finish than planned over the past three months, because the plot kept getting twisty and a couple of story elements I DID NOT FORESEE happened. This has meant a bit of re-editing, but the good news is the story is working out even better than I thought it would. Also, you get more to read - something readers request of me quite a lot(!). This book is longer than The Last Dragon was.
In light of this, publication date is finalised for Halloween, 31st Oct. It gives my editor (who I feel awful for messing around a bit - love you, Mandy Pederick) more time to go over the book. Sorry for the change, but it is the last one, and to prove this, I have put the book up for preorder on Amazon (something I only do when I'm 100% certain of the end date because their penalty for delaying a publication is steep). Here are the pre-order links:
If you've already pre-ordered on iBooks and Nook, you don't have to change a thing, or do anything. The book will just get delivered to you on 31st October instead.
Huge apologies, but it is necessary. Writing on the book should be finished in about 3 or 4 days, then I'll spend a couple of days going over it to polish it up, then it's straight to my editor, while I focus on being online with you guys and sorting promo and blog tours, etc.
IN THE MEDIA: I MADE THE SMASHWORDS HOTLIST
Reign Of The Wolf made the Smashwords Hotlist on USA Today! This is awesome! But given the above, this REALLY pulled on my GUILT. I could not believe I had to change the publication date literally hours before I discovered this. I went to my partner in a panic and said, "Look how stupid I am - what have I done!" You know what he said, in all his wisdom? He said, "Daenerys kept everyone waiting on her, then she rode in on a dragon. Don't sweat it."
Erm, cool. Thanks :)
I'm assuming you're all Cersei in this scenario :p
(Anyone know where I can get a dragon?)
Seriously, though, I do feel bad. Note that 31st October really is the absolute final publication date for Reign Of The Wolf, and I'll be posting little snippets of the book on my Facebook page from next week to get your taste buds flowing.
To EVERYONE who preordered from iBooks, Nook and Smashwords, thank you a million times - I was soooo delighted to make this list. KEEP PRE-ORDERING - the links are above. The storm is coming!
