Notice: A Change to the Out of the Shadows Book Cover

Old cover - it turned out to be version one.

Out of the Shadows is going to be a longer, much darker book than I'd originally thought, and as writing has progressed, the book cover you see on the left (or above) no longer suits. I've hit about the halfway point, I think, and I've been struggling to want to sit down and write it. And as weird as it sounds, I'm sure it's because I'm a very visual person.

​Many authors like to listen to music for inspiration and motivation when they write. Not me. I have to write in silence. But what I do need is aesthetics. I need visual stimuli and when it's right, it quite literally moves me to new heights and I write so much faster and more easily. So, now I've found the right cover, my excitement in writing is back. It's suddenly like I align with the narrative again because the visuals do. Like I said, I'm weird!​

Below is the new cover, and I hope you'll all agree it looks so much better:

In case you've been away from my work for a while and are only now venturing back, Out of the Shadows is the book about Katherine Green's encounter with the Shanka incubus king, Darius, as well as her initial meeting with Gwain and how he came to be in her life. Katherine, you'll remember, is Elena Green's mother.

You need to read the first four books in The Witching Pen series to really experience the layers of this book, and so you're not too freaked out by how dark it is. This story is occult horror combined with magical realism, and, as is the way with most of my books, it comes with a coating of situational family drama.

Looking back, Katherine's story was never going to be roses and kittens. She ended up pregnant with an incubus' baby. This isn't a romance; this is a nightmare.

What fun writing days I'm having!
